To get a Driving Permit
Requirements
Finish classroom driver education course
Enroll in the Behind the Wheel Training Program
Must be 15 ½ years old
A written test is required
No appointment is required at DMV
What to Bring
Birth Certificate (original or certified copy)
Social Security number
DL44 form (long white application for a permit/license)
Driver Education completion slip (light blue or pink color) and Driver Training Enrollment Form (white)

To get a Driver's License
Requirements
Finish 6 hours of behind the wheel training
Finish 50 hours of additional practice, 10 in darkness
Must hold your permit for 6 months
Must be 16 years old
A Behind the Wheel "drive test" is required
An appointment is required at DMV, call (800) 777-0133
What to Bring
Permit (signed by a parent saying the student is ready)
Legal and safe vehicle
Proof of insurance on the vehicle
Proof of current registration on the vehicle
Driver Training completion slip (gold colored form)
