To get a Driving Permit

Requirements

• Finish classroom driver education course
• Enroll in the Behind the Wheel Training Program
• Must be 15 ½ years old
• A written test is required
• No appointment is required at DMV

What to Bring

• Birth Certificate (original or certified copy)
• Social Security number
• DL44 form (long white application for a permit/license)
• Driver Education completion slip (light blue or pink color) and Driver Training Enrollment Form (white)

To get a Driver's License

Requirements

• Finish 6 hours of behind the wheel training
• Finish 50 hours of additional practice, 10 in darkness
• Must hold your permit for 6 months
• Must be 16 years old
• A Behind the Wheel "drive test" is required
• An appointment is required at DMV, call (800) 777-0133

What to Bring

• Permit (signed by a parent saying the student is ready)
• Legal and safe vehicle
• Proof of insurance on the vehicle
• Proof of current registration on the vehicle
• Driver Training completion slip (gold colored form)
